Former New Jersey Attorney General and Port Authority Chairman David Samson's name will be removed from the firm he founded. My guess is that imminent indictment is the reason. -gwc
Samson Retiring, Firm Announces New Leadership and Name | New Jersey Law Journal
by Zack Needles
"Wolff & Samson founding partner David Samson is retiring and partners Armen Shahinian and Jeff Chiesa are stepping in as co-chairmen of the eight-member executive committee, the firm announced April 7. The 43-year-old West Orange firm is now set to eventually change its name to Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi. Francis Giantomasi joined the firm last December after spending nearly five years as a partner at Newark’s Genova Burns.
While the leadership changes are effective immediately, the name change will be “gradual,” firm spokesman Mark Weiss said. Shahinian has been a partner at Wolff & Samson for 38 years and heads the firm’s fidelity and surety practice. Chiesa, a former U.S. senator and New Jersey attorney general, joined the firm in 2013 and practices in its litigation, corporate internal investigations and monitoring, and white-collar criminal defense groups.
In addition to Shahinian and Chiesa’s new leadership roles, the firm announced the appointment of partners Ross Pearlson and Jeff Weinick as firmwide co-managing directors. Pearlson has been a partner at the firm since 2011 and co-chairs its litigation department. Weinick has been a partner since 2009 and co-chairs the firm’s intellectual property group. Chiesa said Pearlson and Weinick will be responsible for overseeing the daily administration of firm functions, while the executive committee, of which Pearlson and Weinick are also members, will focus on implementing the firm’s long-range strategic vision.
Giantomasi said the firm’s leadership succession plan has been in place for about a year."
