Senator (and former Governor) Angus King (I-Maine) delivers a soft-spoken and elegant warning about the grave risk to our fragile and flawed democracy posed by the mistrust in government fanning Republican attacks on the right to vote.
“All of us as elected officials must do our duty to prevent the dismantling of the rule of law,” Rep. Liz Cheney declared yesterday, “and to ensure that nothing like that dark day in January ever happens again.”
One fears that this is wishful thinking. The mob scaling the walls of the Capitol, fighting cops, and breaking glass tells us that millions aren't listening. - gwc
