Dumb and dumber. That is the conclusion to be drawn from a recent survey. People my age remember the polio epidemic of the 1950's and the peace of mind that Jonas Salk's vaccine gave us. A generation before me saw that the scourge of small pox was eliminated by vaccination. But the generations without that experience tilt increasingly toward the "freedom of choice" to which Americans give much too much credence. - gwc
