The Catholic rear guard was much agitated when Notre Dame University invited President Obama to speak. No such scruples by the Pope. His emphasis has been on dialog and openness. Though actual doctrinal changes have been nil, the mood is much changed from that set by the censorious inquisitor German Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger who preceded Bergoglio to the chair of St. Peter. - GWC
