50th anniversary of ML King's triumph - and John Coltrane's

The Black movement for civil rights inspired us in many ways.  One was the sheer genius of African-American music from Motown to Ellington to John Coltrane.  Just a few weeks before the epochal march for jobs and freedom John Coltrane transformed the lovable My Favorite Things into an an anthem of the search for freedom.  Thanks to Michael Perlin for reminding me of that.
