Refugees have long traveled in groups as they sought safety and, well, refuge. The Central Americans denounced by Trump are no different. The "Stations of the Cross Caravan" is an annual Easter time event. They are- both refugees seeking safety and demonstrators for the rights of immigrants.
Yet Trump threw away his prepared remarks and delivered an extended rant to a cheering crowd of ignorant (to be kind) white West Virginians. The rapists he warned about from the first are on the march, etc. he claimed shamelessly, boastfully. The lies come so fast that it is impossible and exhausting to keep up with them. He really doesn't deserve the dignity of being called a liar - because liars know they are telling the opposite of the truth, thus acknowledging that there is a truth. I don't give him that much credit. - gwc
"The “Stations of the Cross” caravans have been held annually in southern Mexico for about 10 years. They began as short processions of migrants, some dressed in biblical garb and carrying crosses, as an Easter-season protest against the kidnappings, extortion, beatings and killings suffered by many Central American migrants as they cross Mexico.Migrant caravan halts in Mexico before last scheduled stop in journey toward U.S. | PBS NewsHour
The organized portions of the caravans usually have not gone much farther north than the Gulf coast state of Veracruz, although some participants have then gone off by bus or truck to the U.S. border, moving as individuals or in small groups."
